An otolaryngologist - head and neck surgeon or ear nose and throat doctor specializing in the treatment of diseases related to the head and neck. Otolaryngologist is a long word and difficult to remember so most people simply say ENT.
ENT doctors must complete a minimum of 5 years of extra training after medical school and pass a number of examinations in order to become board certified by The American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery. Once certified, an ENT's practice typically consists of medical and surgical care of adults and children in the areas of ear, nose and throat disorders as well as allergy treatment, head and neck cancer, facial plastic surgery and sinus care and surgery.
